The Road to Tetebatu

We arrived off the ferry save and sound and headed to Tetubatu, a village on the southern slopes of Mt. Rinjani. The roads are busy with motorbikes, horse and carts and trucks.

Enroute, we lucked out and saw a ritual attached to a Muslim wedding. Before the wedding the groom goes to the bride’s home and ‘kidnaps’ her for the event. Everyone though is involved and aware and its a colourful affair with music and the whole village watching.
