Incredible soft sand beaches stretching for miles and miles…with skyscraper hotels throwing long shadows over the beach..that is the Gold Coast. The sand is soft like corn starch and incredibly you would be hard pressed to see a seashell, stone or seaweed among the fine grains. Its just pure beach.

Wow! That is gorgeous, and definitely beats the Vancouver beaches.
By the way, good luck on the train trip to Cairns. While you’re there, keep an eye out for cane toads, an invasive species in Oz. I’ll email you a link to a very entertaining, irreverent film about them, that might help the hours on the train pass a little quicker. I think you and Lauren will enjoy it, and you’ll for sure be well-prepped by the time you get to Cairns.
